Inga Travland and Otto Travland baptisms

Inga Travland and cousin Otto Travland were baptized on December 23, 1883 in Lee county, Illinois.   The baptism document was provided from Methodist Episcopal Church but previous entries stated Steward which is located in Lee county.    I do not know whether the baptism occurred in Steward at the church or another location in Lee county, Illinois.    The church record indicates Inga was born August 28, 1883 and her cousin, Otto Travland was born on November 9, 1883.   

Inga's entry can be found on the 3rd line and Otto's is located on the 4th line.     

Inga Travland was the first child born to Matilda (Vogel) and Lewis Travland (following the death of Lewis' first wife, Iverdine Finnestad) and the granddaughter of Taletta Larsdatter and Peder Pederson Travland.

Otto Travland was the son of Mary Ann (Olson) and Ole Kristian Travland and the grandson of Taletta Larsdatter and Peder Pederson Travland. 

The baptism documents were provided from the records of the Methodist Episcopal Church which still stands today and is located at 507 Main Street.    It is currently named the Steward United Methodist Church.   A little bit of history about the church can be found here.  Scroll down to the bottom and look for 'Steward Methodist Church'.

1950 US Census - Inga (Travland) Arno

Here is the 1950 US Census for Inga (Travland) Arno living in San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas with her daughter, Mildred.

Inga was widowed at the time of the 1950 census.  Her husband Hjalmar Ludwig Arno had passed away in 1934.

Inga was the first child born to Matilda (Vogel) and Lewis Travland (following the death of Lewis' first wife, Iverdine Finnestad) and the granddaughter of Taletta Larsdatter and Peder Pederson Travland.

Inga was the first child born to Matilda (Vogel) and Lewis Travland (following the death of Lewis' first wife, Iverdine Finnestad).   Inga was born most likely in Milan township, DeKalb county, Illinois.

She married Hjalmar Ludwig Arno in Bexar county, Texas on September 21, 1905.   Inga passed away on November 15, 1966 in San Antonio, Bexar county, Texas and was buried at Mission Burial Park.

1930 US Census - Inga (Travland) Arno

Here is the 1930 US Census for Inga Arno, granddaughter of Taletta Larsdatter and Peder Pederson Travland.


Inga (entry #15) was living in San Antonio, Bexar county, Texas with husband Hjalmar and two of their children, Howard and Mildred.

Inga was the daughter of Matilda (Ogel) and Lewis Travland.

Inga (Travland) Arno

Here is a photo* of Inga Arno, granddaughter of Taletta Larsdatter and Peder Pederson Travland.    

Inga was the first child born to Matilda (Ogel) and Lewis Travland.    Inga married Hjalmar Arno on September 21, 1905 in Bexar county, Texas.    It is believed this was Inga's wedding gown so the photo was probably taken in 1905.

Three of Matilda (Ogel) and Lewis Travland's daughters, Inga, Ida and Lena as well as their half sister-in-law, Hannah Arno, wife of Peter Travland, the son of Iverdine (Finnestad) and Lewis Travland.

Depicted in the photo, from left to right:   Inga, Ida, Lena Travland, Hannah Arno and possibly a Beck girl, most likely a descendant of Magnus Beck.   This photo was probably taken sometime in the early 1900's in Bee county, Texas.

Matilda (Ogel) Travland and daughter Inga Travland

Here is a photo* of Lewis Travland's second wife, Matilda (Ogel) Travland and their daughter Inga.

Inga is to the left, Matilda or 'Tilda' to the right.    Tilda passed away April 28, 1897 in Bee county, Texas so this photo was probably taken at their home in Texas, shortly before her death.
